As a big fan of street art, I’ve been pretty unimpressed with NYC has had to offer since moving from the305 last year. My move coincided with the demolition of 5Pointz and Banksy‘s “Better Out Than In” so even though I hadn’t seen many impressive murals in person, I knew this city had alot to offer.
The Bushwick Collective, located at Troutman Street & St.Nicholas Avenue in Bushwick, has emerged as a new destination for street artists and fans in Brooklyn. I decided to take a trip out there (the L to Jefferson Street) and was greeted by this huge colorful mural entitled “Hand Of Protest” by Dasic Fernandez pictured above. From there I bopped around the neighborhood and found some real gems, barely scratching the surface of this vibrant neighborhood.
As a huge ninja-turles fan growing up, my favorite piece of the day was this painting above by Jerkface. As the winter approaches, I’ll definitely be making a few more trips out to Bushwick, as locals claim 2-3 walls go up every week, there is plenty more to see and discover in this incredible neighborhood.
