Last night, The212 took a trip up to Washington Heights for Sam Smith‘s return to Manhattan to watch the youngr crooner perform the hits that have been dominating the worldwide charts the past 6 months. Though we were hoping for an ASAP Rocky or Mary J.Blige cameo, Smith held the stage down for a full hour-and-a-half set, continually thanking the crowd for showing so much support and love to him.
If you haven’t been to the United Palace Theater on 175th & Broadway, its a must go. Its architectural style has been described as “Byzantine-Romanesque-Indo-Hindu-Sino-Moorish-Persian-Eclectic-Rococo-Deco” by David W. Dunlap of the New York Times, and the acoustics are absolutely incredible. If you weren’t lucky enough to grab tickets to last night’s performance, Sam is perfomring at Hammerstein Ballroom tonight, but tickets have been sold out for months.
