Kygo took the stage for “School Night” at Brooklyn Bowl for his fourth sold out show in three days in New York City. Kygo is a Norwegian-born DJ who was recently signed to Sony/Ultra Music after gaining a lot of popularity both stateside and abroad. He is best known for his remixes of popular songs such as Ed Sheeran’s ‘I See Fire’, Marvin Gaye’s ‘Sexual Healing’ and The Weeknd’s ‘Often’.
In natural Kygo style, he kept the music around 100 bpms the entire night making for a very chill dance floor; unlike the usual scene at electronic concerts. He spent most of his 90-minute set smiling and singing along with every song and was off the stage by 11 with no encore, much to the dismay of the crowd. The “push play” set and nonchalant attitude had Kygo coming off a very boring DJ. While I would absolutely encourage you to listen to his mixes at work, I would not recommend paying to see him unless he’s one of many in a great lineup. Overall, expected more and left underwhelmed.
