Description: March 9th. Its a day that set in stone in hip-hop history, the day we remember the greatest rapper who ever picked up a mic, the Notorious B.I.G., from Forte Green, Brooklyn. As it happens, March 9th 2013 is the 2nd Saturday coinciding with REVIVAL, our monthly dance party with pioneering NYC DJ, Rich Medina at FREECANDY, a colorful art space in the Fort Greene section of Brooklyn, just a few blocks from the newly minted Barclays Center, and blocks from Biggie sat on stoops, holding court, smoking blunts and drinking private stock. What better place to honor his memory, and thats what we plan to do, by rockin to his music all night.
And this month, we welcome noted mixtape specialist, and the official Musical Director for the Brooklyn Nets, J. Period, for a special Biggie set. All three of the DJs – PQ, Rich Medina and J. Period – have some pretty official BIG catalogs, so expect some friendly Brooklyn competition to see who can come up with the dopest set and rep BIG’s legacy the hardest.
