Jay shows us once again that he is not just a rapper and mogul but also a global rockstar like Bono or Springsteen, as he does another large charity performance, specifically to end world hunger. This is an annual charity event organized by the Global Poverty Project. Hov issued a statement: “Change only takes place when and where there is action. I’m joining the 2014 Global Citizen Festival because I believe through actions, whether it be by raising awareness, getting involved or educating ourselves, the goal to end extreme poverty by 2030 is possible.”
Other headliners for this event include No Doubt, Tiesto, and Carrie Underwood, which continues the theme of popular acts from different genres, as 2013′s event featured Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder, John Mayer, and Kings of Leon. This year will be a mix of hip hop heads, house heads, punk rockers, and country music fans, but at a vast beautiful venue like Central Park’s great lawn, there is no reason why everybody there will not enjoy themselves, not to mention the beautiful Fall weather New York is known for in late September. There will be over 48,000 free tickets distributed among the fans. In order to get these tickets, you’ll have to earn them by completing actions on www.globalcitizen.org. Each action yields a certain number of points – denoted by red plus signs across the site. You must have 8 points to enter to win tickets to the Global Citizen Festival and there will be five draws over the summer.
