Fania Records often referred to as the “Motown” of Latin music, is proud to announce The Armada Fania Club & Pop-Up Store happening from May 22-25 at The 1896 in Brooklyn, NY located off the Brooklyn bound L train at Jefferson. This four-night event combines a club with an all-star lineup of DJs mixing original and remix sounds of Latin Soul, Funk, Boogaloo, Salsa and more with an intimate and beautiful pop-up store experience filled with Fania’s famed catalog and merchandise (from vinyl and CDs to tees, DVDs, apparel and more).
The headlining DJs for each night range from the legendary Louie Vega, whose new album as his live project Elements of Life – Eclipse is out now on Fania and is the label’s first new artist album in years, to famed mixtape maestro Tony Touch to global bass pioneers Que Bajo (aka Gecko Jones and Uproot Andy) to Puerto Rican Super DJ Duo D’Marquesina. Also performing is a who’s who of DJs in the Latin/Global Bass scene ranging from DJ Turmix, Whiskey Barons, Rice & Beans Soundsystem, DNGR GRDN, DJ Wasabi, DJ Canyon Cody, and Foglia.
“As labels and brands become more connected directly to their fans, we’ve seen an increase in demand for our music and merchandise to be available at events. Our Armada Fania Club & Pop-Up Store is a unique experience where we present our merchandise through our elegant art installation and combine it with four nights of top notch DJs pushing Latin music forward,” says Michael Rucker, Chief Marketing Officer at Fania Records. He adds, “we’ve been successful doing these events in Miami and are looking forward to bringing this distinct experience to New York City and beyond.”
