Finding the best $1 to $2 slice in New York will most definitely be a never-ending chase with no finish line. But its always good to share the wealth on a quality find with great customer service.
During a recent longer than expected stay in the Hamilton Heights area in Harlem, the search for some cheap on-a-budget food was a must to hold us down during the extreme cold weather. So on west side of Broadway between 147th and 148th Street, there’s this charming little spot you may or may not know called Jumbo Pizza. Not only do they have your expected $2 cheese slice fix, but they have burgers, gyros, sandwiches and so much more. But by the name of the spot, you would not know that they serve breakfast all day with a great variety of omelettes. And all of it…and again we say…all of it…is affordable for the most part.
The pizza is definitely the stand out item with the anchored cheese slice at two dollars, with other ingredients and pizza types being a bit more at $3 or so. Otherwise, you have a pretty deep diner-styled menu that will keep you busy for numerous visits until you run through it all.
So next time you’re in Harlem or on the way to Washington Heights, give Jumbo some of your business and see how you like it.
NOTE: My iPhone crashed and died with all the photos of Jumbo Pizza in it, so no photos for now but this post will be updated soon as we get them retaken.
