Without further adieu, The 212 presents the five most out-of-this-world Chicken & Waffles combinations we’ve had here in New York City.
The Stanton Social – 99 Stanton Street (Lower East Side)
Maple-Cheddar Waffle, Lousiana Hot-Sauce butter
We kick things off with the most unusual spin on the classic dish. The chicken is unfried, and served on an aged cheddar waffle with corn pudding and balsamic spiked maple syrup. Real fans of the original need to give this offering a try.
Cafeteria – 119 7th Ave (Chelsea)
Buttermilk brine chicken, crispy sage, grillem lemon chili, butter and maple jus
Juicy, but not oily and not too-sweet. Cafeteria is open 24 hours so its pretty inexcusable to never give this offering a try.
Brooklyn Star – 593 Lorimer Street (Williamsburg)
With apple butter, fresh grapefruit
The chicken is the best part of this plate, but the side of grilled, sugary grapefruit is a real nice touch.
Sweet Chick – 178 Ludlow St. (Lower East Sde)
Sweet chick fried chicken w/ A classic belgian waffle & fresh house butter
More than enough chicken and waffle for one, Sweet Chick seperates themself from the pack by giving us the option to choose between buttermilk, bacon & cheddar or rosemary & mushroom waffles.
Pies-n-Thighs – 166 S 4th St (Williamsburg)
Two pieces of fried chicken and two buckwheat waffles topped with cinnamon butter & poached berries
Just plain delicious. Try it for yourself.
