It’s definitely sad to see businesses that have been around for years face the possibility of shutting down due to rent increases. Gothamist reported that Big Nick’s, the Upper West Side diner best known for its burgers, pizza, and late night hours, is facing a $200,000 per year rent increase on top of the $40,000 they already pay to use the space monthly. Ouch! Management is claiming that may simply be too much for the restaurant to handle, and shutting down seems to be on the horizon. If you’ve lived here long enough you have probably ended up here at one time or another, I know I have…and have had some good memories at this place!
