Last night, Aloe Blacc put on quite a show at the infamous Santos Party House in the 212′s Chinatown. Known for his hit singles “Wake Me Up,” “I Need a Dollar,” & “The Man,” Blacc didn’t disappoint. In a disco lit ballroom, Blacc’s show was an excellent blend of hip hop, soul, rock n’ roll and country. While Aloe’s stage presence included a full band, he was able to maintain his calm and guide the audience throughout the entire show.
Blacc’s hits came staggered throughout his performance. “I Need a Dollar” followed a jazzy version of Michael Jackson’s ABC and had its own reggae version down the stretch of the song. Aloe’s next big hit “The Man” was the 8th song of the set and it proceeded a crowd pleasing, upside down, performance on the keyboard by a band member. Blacc would down his set with the word-wide hit “Wake Me Up,” which has sold more than 2.8 million copies. The track drew a crazed reaction from the crowd, as everyone inched closer to the stage to get more of what Blacc was offering.
Blacc is in the midst of a tour which concludes in Australia. US fans have one more chance to catch him, in LA, at Eagle Rock Music Festival on October 4th.
