Say what you want about Webster Hall. Sure – it’s sweaty, ratchet and feels like you are in a can of underage sardines unless you’re in VIP (or on stage like the212). What keeps me coming back is the consistent lineup of high quality artists that throw down deep into the night – week after week. This weekend is no different as Philippines born Laidback Luke (Lucas Cornelis van Scheppingen) takes the decks on Friday for ‘Girls & Boys’ and Saturday for ‘Brite Nites’.
LL made his official mainstream EDM debut in 2011 with the track ‘Turbulence’ above, collaborating with Steve Aoki and Lil Jon. From collaborations over his career with the likes of Hardwell, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Chuckie to A-Trak and Diplo – Laidback Luke is a seasoned vet in the game. Furthermore, he has three children. This dude is serious about his job. With opening support from a cast of local resident DJs on Friday and a couple bigger names on Saturday, he is the main attraction both nights. Luke was ranked #50 in DJ Mag’s Top 100 this past year, if that means anything.
Follow #the212 for exclusive content, we are shooting the show on Friday and select tickets are still available here. While you’re at it, check out this throwback Thursday coffee run of deadmau5 & Laidback Luke chopping it up in his purarri during Miami Music Week (RIP).
