The Pretty Reckless, the rock band fronted by Gossip Girls’ Taylor Momsen, played to a small crowd at the iHeart Radio Theater last night. For those of you who have not been to the iHeart Radio venue, it’s an intimate, production-packed room that fits around 200 – giving the viewer an up close and personal experience with the artist.
This particular show was unlike a regular concert. Between songs, the band answered interview questions about the making of their new album, writing inspirations and future plans. (Their second studio album, Going To Hell, was written two years ago during Hurricane Sandy).
As for performing, the band played some serious rock and roll – going heavy on the guitar riffs with a solid drum beat, supporting Taylor’s grungy and powerful voice. They went through roughly 5 songs, including their hit single ‘Heaven Knows‘. For most of the show, Taylor sang with her hair in her face and used mic effects to recreate the hard-hitting rock voice heard on their album. Despite the somewhat odd juxtaposition of the young blonde-haired beauty being supported three older rock musicians, The Pretty Reckless felt like a true part of today’s small but growing rock revival.
This show, and many others hosted by iHeart Radio, are free to the public. For your chance to win tickets, be sure to follow iHeart radio on Twitter.
