92YTribeca is headed towards darkness and closing its doors. They unfortunately announced yesterday that they will shutting things down this summer. The downtown locale opened in October of 2008, but after about five years of operation, they will be no more. Instead, the 92nd Street Y board will just focus on their Upper East Side outpost. Here’s their message, posted on Facebook:
It’s been a great five years, but we’re sad to announce that 92YTribeca will close its doors sometime this summer. We’re very proud of the work we’ve done downtown. Thanks to everyone who’s supported us. We’re working on finding new homes for our downtown programs, and we’re excited that our digital programs and partnerships will continue to bring you lots of great stuff online, around town and beyond 92Y’s uptown space.
