Over the weekend, avid Hip Hop enthusiasts were elated to hear news of an apparent Black Star reunion show at Brooklyn Bowl (12/17). But as quickly as the headlines circulated around the web about Mos Def and Talib Tweli’s pending concert, fans were treated with a disappointing revelation – the show was officially canceled – and tickets were off sale. While it remains unknown as to why it was shelled, Brooklyn Bowl took to Twitter to speak about the cancelation, tweeting this: “Due to circumstances beyond our control, Black Star on Tues, Dec 17 is cancelled. We hope to reschedule & apologize for any inconvenience.” And Mos Def posted on his Facebook page, “Attention — contrary to liars reports there will be no (Blackstar) show at Brooklyn Bowl 12/17. Peace.”
While this serves as bad news in eyes of many, music lovers don’t fret, because Mos Def (aka Yasiin Bey) will be hitting the stage solo on the same night over at Highline Ballroom.
And, to make it up to his fans, just maybe we can hear some brand new material from that collaborative project with Mannie Fresh he’s been teasing us with forever. Yeah, that one.
