For those who frequent the Williamsburg area, will be definitely taking this news harder than anyone else. The cocktail bar, Donna, will be unfortunately closed to further notice as a devastating fire (that occurred this past weekend on Saturday) has forced the popular spot to shutter its doors for the time being. According to the reports, an electrical fire broke out in the bar’s ceiling somewhere between 8:30 and 9:00 p.m. and the flames quickly spread damaging the whole space. No one was said to be injured as a result of the fire.
Donna owner Leif Young Huckman penned a heartfelt letter and posted it on Facebook not only announcing the news of the subsequent closure, but also praising the FDNY for their hasty and prompt response to the fire. He also went on to say that, “closing our doors to you is a heart-wrenching choice to make, as is not being able to provide my incredible staff with steady employment, but it is a necessary one for the time being.” Huckman also put out a call for any bars or restaurants who can offer shifts to the now displaced Donna employees. Sadly enough, this also means that Brooklyn Taco’s outpost, which is located inside Donna, will be closed.
