They’ve been closed for about a year for renovations, but they’re finally done and tonight, Marquee will be reopening the W. 27th Street doors for a whole new experience. The revamped nightclub bares little resemblance to what it once looked like, having been completely gutted and redone from floor to ceiling. Some key changes that have been made:
- Ceiling heights throughout the club have been raised
- Philip Johnson-designed staircase removed
- Wall separating the top floor from the main room has been removed
- Main room has lost the permanent horseshoe of banquettes
- Mike D.-designed Brooklyn wallpaper in one bathroom
- Scratch and sniff wallpaper in another bathroom
- A version of its light and sound system from Las Vegas
