Kicking off this Memorial Day Weekend, the Bronx Zoo will feature a “Dinosaur Safari”…the very first of its kind. The exhibit is host to two dozen life-size animatronic dinosaurs, and will stay put throughout the summer season.
The safari starts in the Permian period and in 20 minutes winds up 235 million years later in the Cretaceous period, and the creators of the exhibit cut no corners when it comes to detail and precision. In each “period,” there are corresponding trees, plants and flowers from that era.
At the end of the safari, children are invited to dig in a sandbox for replica dinosaur fossils. Dinosaur Safari admission is included with the zoo’s Total Experience ticket.
