Grand opening, grand closing? TGI Fridays has been a favorite spot for many New Yorkers and tourists, especially when frequenting Union Square’s location when paying a visit to the good ole Big Apple. But could the days be numbered for Union Square’s chain? Well, Grub Street is speculating that this maybe their fate here, as Union Square’s location is up for “negotiable lease”. Although they remain adamant that this may not mean it’ll close its doors anytime soon, it also brings bad news that the Penn Station location, however, will officially shutter. You’re just going to have to find another spot to get that delicious “Sizzling Chicken and Shrimp”, folks.
Hopefully Union Square’s can withstand this, though…
“The Department of Labor indicated that the homegrown chain’s location near Penn Station is closing, and this hasn’t been the best of times for the restaurant: Earlier this year, thirteen New Jersey franchises were implicated in statewide investigation called “Operation Swill” that revealed unscrupulous employees were replacing top-shelf booze with bargain-basement spirits.”
