Throngs of corporations have come out in the support of folks affected by Hurricane Sandy, some of which included big name entities such as Target and Walt Disney, whom both donated $500k and $2 million dollars for relief, respectively. And following suit, in good deed fashion, the NY Yankees organization is also stepping to the plate with a generous donation of $500k, as NYCBSLocal reports:
The Yankees will donate $500,000 to the American Red Cross to help support relief efforts in the wake of Superstorm Sandy.
“The damage and destruction to the Tri-State area caused by Hurricane Sandy is daunting, but we have seen the great resiliency of this region before,” Yankees managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner said in a statement.
He added: “As a neighbor and community member, the Yankees embrace our role of stepping forward and assisting the American Red Cross, which comes to the aid of so many people through their tireless efforts.”
If you want to donate, please feel free to do so at RedCross with a donation of $10 dollars, or visit their site for more details.
