Amar’e has only been back on the court for one game this season, but he’s already back to his old self! In a press conference at the Knicks practice yesterday, the star player took some jabs at former Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni, while also speaking on his own problems on the court.
“Just having a defensive coach for the first time in my career is going to help,” he said, a clear shot at D’Antoni. “I’ve never been taught defense my whole career. To now have a coach who actually teaches defense and strategies and knows positioning and posture and how to guard different plays is going to be helpful and I’m taking it as a challenge and try to improve as a player.’’
