Rumors flared up over the weekend that NY Knicks guard, Iman Shumpert, was soon to be traded to the Phoenix Suns for Jared Dudley as part of a multiplayer package. Quickly reacting, Iman, his teammate Carmelo Anthony and their coach Mike Woodson all had something to say.
“I don’t really care,” Shump said at a press conference Sunday. “I’ve just got to play ball. I can’t control it anyway. There’s nothing to worry about — something I can’t control.”
“Those are just trade rumors,” Mike Woodson added.
“Shump, he ain’t going nowhere,” Melo chimed in with. “He ain’t got to worry about that. The Knicks shouldn’t even be in trade talks.”
“We’ve got a lot of faith in him,” Woodson said Sunday. “Again, his lateral movement is not where I think it should be and his timing is off a little bit, and that’s expected. I mean, we’re not playing him big minutes because he’s somewhat still on restricted minutes as well. So we’re going to continue to nurse him and bring him along slowly, and he’ll be fine. When it counts, he’ll be there I think.”
